Coming of age in the Victorian era, this oil on canvas by David Chamberlain (1821-?) is a study in the serene domestic life of a woman and her young son. It is oil on canvas, signed lower right in beautiful origianal frame. Born in Berkshire, England, Chamberlain studied at the Norwich Art Institute, and later moved to London where he specialized in genre and interior scenes, of which this is a fine example. He exhibited at the Royal Adademy, the Royal Institute and the Suffolk Street Galleries. Please note that the photos show the work as darker than it appears, we are happy to send additional photography upon request.
