Chirici began painting as a self-taught artist in 1973 before enrolling at the Trossi-Uberti art school in Livorno, directed by the respected painter Voltolino Fontani and later Marc Sardelli. There he studied engraving with Livornese artist Walter Cecchi, an experience that broadened his understanding of line, texture, and mark-making. In 1991 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence under Professor Gianfranco Notargiacomo.
A defining characteristic of Chirici's work is his love of painting en plein air. He seeks to capture not simply the appearance of a landscape, but the changing light and atmosphere experienced when standing within it. His landscapes and floral subjects are consequently filled with movement, color, and a strong feeling of being immersed in nature.
Chirici has exhibited extensively in Italy and abroad and has participated in numerous editions of the Mario Borgiotti Round Prize, where he won the First Prize of the City of Livorno. His work continues to be represented by galleries and is actively collected.
