Unloaded the Catch - William Shayer
This is a delightful oil on canvas signed lower left and dated 1838 in original frame. William Shayer (1787 to 1879) was English, born in Southampton. He was known to collaborated with Edward Charles Williams and was influenced by George Moreland. His wonderful works have been exhibited at the Royal Academy, the British institution and the society of British artists. His works are also on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Tate Gallery, the Glasgow Art Gallery, and the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. This is a charming classical work that would be delightful in any setting and we are delighted to be able to have procured it.
