Texas Landscape - George Bidkerstaff
We are thrilled to offer this excellent painting by American artistGeorge Bickerstaff (1893-1954). Born in Arkansas, he was a self-taught artist who, for a time, attended the Art Institute of Chicago. He moved often in his early years, seeing much of the country, eventually settling in Van Nuys CA with Paul Lauritz, also a significant artist. Known for his western American landscapes - especially of Texas and Oklaholma, Bickerstaff was quite commercially successful, selling numerous works to establishments such and corporations and hotels. This piece sits in a truly unique frame with clean lines that harmonizes with the mood of the piece - original to the work and in a muted gold finish. The painting is oil on canvas, signed lower right. Both spectacular and collectable , it is a larger piece, but not oversized.
Measurements with frame 32”X28”, without frame 23.5”X19.5”. Condition: Very Good.
