Antoinette Le Bretton (1888-1954) was a Belgian painter, born Antwerp. She moved to Brussels in 1910 at the onset of WW1. She apprenticed in numerous art shops after the war and secured a scholarship at the Julien Art School. Here she excelled in the classical category. She exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1930 and again in 1947. Her work was well appreciated by her peers, and she was elected honorary member of the Belgian Academy of Arts. This classical work is large, elegant and serene. It is Oil on canvas. Signed lower left in original frame.
