Slocum Davenport (1868-1938) was American, born in Broome County, New York. He was a sudent of the extraordinary James Abbott McNeill Whistler. His work translated well to Europe, and he participated in the the French Salon, Salon de la Nationale, Salon des Tuilleries. Today some of his works are present in the Carnegie Museum, The Museums of Pittsburgh and Brooklyn and the University of Pennsylvania. This work is oil on board., signed lower left and dated 1921. Original frame. Framer stamp on verso. Inscribed, signed and dated verso.
