Scottish Coastal Scene -William Carrick

William Carrick (1879-1964) was a Scottish artist born in Glasgow, who specialized in coastal scenes and landscapes. He started a career as an architect, but his deteriorating health forced him to turn to his second passion, which was painting. He lived in Lanarkshire and Lancaster before retiring to Kingussies, Scotland. He exhibited prolifically: 10 works at the Royal Scottish Academy 13 works at the Royal Scottish Society of watercolor artists and 89 works at the Glasgow Institute of fine arts. It is not without significant note that he was elected as a permanent member to the Royal Scottish Academy. This is oil on board signed lower right in the original frame. Measures 27x21 with frame, 19.5x13.5 without. 

Condition good for age.
