Louis Ettienne Timmermans (1846-1910) was Belgian, born in Brussels. A student of the Academy of Brussels and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, he later exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in Paris, obtaining honorable mention in 1904. In 1906 one of his works depicting the Seine won silver medal at the renowned Salon d’Automne. He died in his beloved Paris. This detailed, Classical work (see close up) is oil on canvas, signed lower right in the fantastic original frame. Measurements with frame 30.5” X 22”, without frame 20.5”X12.5”. Condition excellent for age.
