Inscription and gallery label on verso. Jules Rene Herve was French, studied under Fernand Cormon at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs. In 1910 he exhibited at the Paris Salon with remarkable success. Herve devoted himself to mastering the technique developed by Monet. Today his works are held in many museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musee des Beaux-Arts in Dijon and the Dahesh Museum of Art in New York among others.Measurements with frame 24”X 20.5”, without frame 15”X12.5”.
