Boats on River - Leonce Pelletier

$3,500.00

Leonce Pelletier (1869-1950) was a French artist, born in Dijon. He attended the School of Fine Arts in Dijon with contemporaries Lippe, Bonotte and Bouchard. After moving to Paris and being invited to join the studio of Gustave Moreau, he was remarkably fortunate to have Edgar Maxence and Henri Matisse as classmates. He produced many fine works, eventually moving back to Dijon where he taught at the school that began his career in art. This work is oil on canvas, signed lower right, in original frame. Soothing to the eye and soft in tone, this is a piece that can be beautifully displayed in many settings.

Measurements with frame 35.5”X30.5”, without frame 28”X23”. Condition: Very Good.
