This quintessential french monument is painted by Andre Gisson (1921-2003), born in Brooklyn, Mass and a graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York City. Raised in poverty and challenged to make a living as an American impressionist painter, he moved to Paris where he legally changed his name to Andre Gisson and began a long and accomplished career as an artist. His work is present in the Triton Museum of Art, and in many prestigious private collections, such as those of Lyndon B. Johnson and W. Somersest Maugham. This oil on canvas offers us a glimpse of the famed Latin Quarter. It is in it’s original frame and is slgned lower right.

Measurements without frame 15”X11”, with frame 21”X17”.
