








Left Bank - Jules Herve Mathe
Jules Herve Mathe (1866-1953) was born in Saint-Calais-du-Desert. France, and studied under Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant. in 1909 he was elected member of the Salon des Artistes Francais. Having spent time in the army (always painting, of course), a number of his pieces are in the Military Museum in Paris. He later moved to Bretagne and began working in Concameau. He exhibited widely, including Paris, Le Mans, Washington, Brussels and Amsterdam. At present, his works can be found in museums such as the Washington National Air and Space Museum, the Musee du Mans and the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Brest, to name a few.
