This serene oil on canvas by Francis Martin (1883-1966), Scottish, born in Fife. Martin attended the Gasgow School of Art and settled in Bearsden. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, the Royal Scottish Academy and the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. He is known for his interpretations of the country life and rugged beauty of Scottland’s hills and seas. His work has fetched above $11,000. This piece, signed lower center-left with gallery label on verso, remains in it’s beautifully carved original frame.

Measurements without frame 19.5”X13.5”, with frame 28”X21.5”.
