Floral Garden of Brugges - Charles Verbrugghe
Charles Verbrugge was Belgian, born in Brugges (1877-1974). In 1907 he moved to Paris to study under master teacher Flori Van Acker. He became friends with the famouns painters of the day such as Ultrillo and Kees van Dongern. He lived in a house on Montmartre and started to paint the quaint neighborhoods of Paris. He is known for his works of the charming city of Brugge, however, of which he never tired of painting - and of which this is an excellent and charming example. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salons. This oil on board is signed lower right in an absolutely lovely original frame.
