Floral Abstract-Jacques Arland
Jacques Arland (1928-2018) was a French Abstract /Surrealist painter. He attended the prestigious Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1955 he started travelling through Europe and then on to Africa. His European period is associated with his abstract work, of which this is a bold and dynamic example (dated 1947). He opened a studio in Brussels for 3 years where he gained notoriety. The artist held multiple solo exhibitions, the most important being at the Royal Belgian Accademy of Arts. From his return to Africa and his surrealist period, he opened a studio in Paris and reverted back to his abstract roots. This excellent oil on canvas is reminiscent of the Van Gogh works of the post impressionist/ early abstract era; signed lower right and dated 1947.Measurements with frame 23.5”X27.5”, without frame 17.5”X 21”.Condition: Excellent for age
