English Landscape - George Turner

George Turner was English born in Derbyshire England. He has known for classical landscapes just like this elegant rendering. In 1867 he exhibited at the Birmingham Society of Artists and also at London’s Suffolk Street Galleries. He later taught art and among his students we have the famous David Payne. This is oil on canvas signed lower left and dated 1862. It is in its original frame. The colors are muted in keeping with the classical style, but are brighter than appears on these photos, see the signature photo for a glimpse.


Measurements 30.5 x 21 with frame 25.5 x 15.5 without.
