English County Seat Engraving 1 of 12

$350.00

This is one in a series of a dozen stunning copper plate engravings by Johannes Kipp 1653 to 1722 depicting the estate and estate owner of stunning English gentry. They are dated 1716 and in very good condition for age. A talented engraver, Kip was a Dutchman who settled in England at the end of the 17th century. This print and the entire series was originally produced for the Britannia Illustrada before being published in Robert Atkins' “The Ancient and Present State of Gloucestershire". Each is unique, on hand laid cotton paper and is entirely hand colored. All possess the family name and crest and many also possess the family motto top center under the crest. It is creased in the center as is correct for full folio.  While it is possible to sell seperately, they would be outstanging in a full grouping of 12. Please note size, they are ample at 22×19.
