Cattle in Winter - Edward Robert Smyth
This work is by Englishman Edward Robert Smyth, born in Ipswich. Influenced by George Moreland, he was elected to the Ipsich Society of Artists. He exhibited regularly at the London Royal Academy. As testament to his talent, he was comissed by Lord Cardigan to paint "The Charge of Balaclava", a work that was subsequently bequethed to Queen Victoria. Today, his works are present in museums such as the Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Towneley Hall Art Gallery and Museum, and Weston Park.
