This is an oil on canvas by George Boregeaud (1914 to 1998). It is signed lower right in the original frame and has both label and inscription on verso. The artist was Swiss and studied at the Ecole des Arts et Metiers in Geneva from 1938 to 1942. He later moved to Paris in 1949 where he held numerous solo exhibitions. In 1962 he was awarded the prestigious Swiss National Merit for Arts. This is a unique post- impressionist work of excellent composition, balance and color.
