Walter John Beauvais (1942-1998) was a British and post-war contemporary artist who, grandson of Charles Beauvais an artist in lithographer who was the son of Arnold Beauvais, also an artist and one time president of the London sketch club. The Beauvais family had links in England living there for a time. Charles Beauvais established a studio in Marseille where Walter was apprenticed. After his apprenticeship Walter traveled extensively in the Mediterranean paying his way by selling paintings teaching boxing and developing property in Spain. By 1973 he returned to painting full-time in ernest and made it his full-time livelihood. His first major exhibition was in London in 1985 and he has had many exhibition since in the UK Europe, United States, Japan, and Australia. His work is to be found in many permanent collections throughout the world, including two royal collections. He has had one-man exhibitions almost every year from 1985 to 1997 which is quite extraordinary. This work is oil on canvas signed lower left and is in the lovely original frame. Is it is of impressionist style as is typical of his work from a series on beautiful paintings on the French Riviera.  A very unusual, open and loose style sets it apart from other more saturated impressionist works. Would be gorgeous in many settings in the home!

Measurements 37.5x27.5 with frame, 29x19 without.
