Barbizon Oil-Adolfo Tommasi
Adolfo Tommasi (1851-1933) was Italian, born in Livorno. He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. His first painting “Monte Acuto” won a prize in 1877 in Florence at the Artistic-Industrial Exhibition, and he continued to collect accolates for his works. He exhibited in Turin (1884), Venice (1887) and Bologn a(1888) and was awarded the Gold Medal at the International Exposition of Watercolors in Milan in 1893. One of his works was acquired by the Italian Government for the famed Galleria Nazionale d’Arte in Rome. This Barbizon style painting is oil on canvas signed lower right in original frame. Measurements with frame 26.5”X20.5”, without frame 21”X14.5”. Condition is excellent for age.
