Babar the Elephant SERIES- Story by Jean de Brunhoff, multiple scenes

$65.00

Babar the Elephant has charmed readers since his first appearance in 1931 in the French children’s book Histoire de Babar by Jean de Brunhoff. The story would eventually become one of the most recognized children’s tales and characters in the world, now translated into 17 languages. It tells the tale of a young elephant that escapes the jungle after his mother is killed. Babar is clever and resourceful! He visits Paris, and here he learns about civilization. Babar eventually grows to be King, and teaches his subjects and family many valuable life lessons. The original book spawned many more, as well as film and television adaptations. These particular prints are dated 1930’s and ‘40’s, each is directly based upon the books. Hand colored, original prints, they are extremely collecible and difficult to find vintage Babar! The black background is not attached nor a mat; it is simply to keep the print flat in it’s clear sleeve. We have a larger selection than is shown here, call us or email if you’d like to see more options. Price is per print. Sizes width 9” and 11” and 5” to 11” height. Call or email for particulars.

What a delightful selection for a nursery!
