Bird copper plate engravings by Frenchman Francois Nicolas Martinet dated 1774. Martinet was a superb naturalist but also an excellent engraver. He is credited with compiling the largest and most magnificent work on Ornithology created by the French. These are relatively rare!! Printed on hand laid cotton paper and had colored with a lovely ochre border. Series of 12, each sold separately, can divide the lot. Each measures 9.5"X13.5". Condition good for age.
